The Fairmont Orchid
The Fairmont Orchid in Hawaii can trace its heritage hundreds of years ago on the Kohala Coast, in Kalahuipua’a. This region is historically rich in archeological sites, lava formations, and footpaths leading everywhere from burial sites to caves. The first man to develop this beautiful piece of paradise was a certain Francis Hyde Brown. However, in 1972, he sold it to Mauna Lani Resort, and Kalahuipua'a was renamed Mauna Lani. In 1990, the resort was finally constructed with 540 luxury guest rooms, a full service spa, a 10,000-square-foot pool, and many other world-class amenities. By the end of 2006, all guest rooms and public areas of the Fairmont Orchid were refurnished to bring out the Hawaiian beauty in everything within the hotel.
